New players are disrupting book publishing. East London is a centre for such innovations, with publishers, technologists, start-ups and designers experimenting with creative models. The book is now not constrained to reading and text. It’s about different sectors and industries coming together: from broadcast and film, to gaming and mobile.

These new players are working in ways unfamiliar and alien to much of the established publishing industry. They’re moving faster, innovating products and features, and are capable of creating new revenue streams. He is the Co-Director of Media Futures<http://www.mediafutures.org.uk/>, a high-level and hands-on project on media, society and innovation. The current Media Futures programme, the Future of Publishing, has encompassed Publish! A Day of Innovation on the Future of the Book at the Watershed in Bristol and a Book Hackday in London.
